Taking ivig abroad ?

Hi all

Has anyone taken there magic juice, mine is Kiovig on a plane heading abroad and if so do you have to contact the airlines if you do etc ?

Have a letter from your immunologist (on headed notepaper with a signature) in case you need it when passing through airport security. That should get everything through fine, but make sure to keep the actual product in your hand luggage (as it could freeze in the hold) and be ready to explain why you have it and any associated supplies.

I've travelled with my insulin pump supplies (insulin vials, subcutaneous cannulas, cartidges, tubing etc) and the actual pump itself attached to me (as it always is) and apart from my hand luggage getting looked at a few times, I've not ever had a problem with flying with it (in fact I've never even had to show the letter from my consultant).

I am going to retire next year and want to go and stay with my son and friends in Australia for 3 months at a time and I will have to check with Australia visa system if I need A visa for my product as its not on there list, my stuff comes in 100 ml bottles as well as 200ml so hopefully that will help with not being allowed over 100ml in our hand luggage.

Hi Malcolm. While I was still doing subcut I travelled by air, [can't remember where we were going!] but I contacted the airline ahead of time and explained about bottles and kit. When I boarded, the stewardesses knew all about me and offered to put my bottles in the 'fridge if I wanted them to do so. I had a Frio bag tho' so I didn't need extra refrigeration. I think it would be as well to tick all boxes because it just makes travelling easier!
Congratulations on your up-coming retirement. Makes me realise how long ago the days of the PiA really are!

The news only reached me today that John died early this month. I thought you might like to know.

Thanks for the information which puts my mind at rest about taking my medication on board.

I had heard about John's death which was very sad news, he was a big help to a lot of people especially in the PiA days and will be greatly missed.

Hi Malcolm. I've just written you a newsy epistle and somehow managed to delete the lot! This is the gist of it: having survived cancer by a very small margin, every day is a pleasure that I make the most of. The garden is back under control [just!!] and I'm about to start spring pruning and feeding. My grandsons are a delight to me as one turned 4 in late December and his little brother won't be 2 until April. He's just at that stage where the words are coming thick and fast, which is such fun listening carefully for today's new nouns. Both love my garden, and having lived with me until last September, they look around to see what's changed every time they come. They only live 2 miles away, closer to the Channel, so they visit a lot!
Tomorrow I'll be picking a posy of snowdrops, Daphne and Wintersweet to give to a 90 year old aunt on Friday.

I'm pleased your doing so well now, we were all worried about you a few years ago.

Pat is desperate to get out in the garden but the weather is horrid at the moment,

Its lovely your grand children live so close, when we get ours they probably will be in Australia.
