Hi everyone,
Those of you who come on here frequently may have noticed that I've not been quite as active as usual in the past few weeks. I do have a very good reason for this though, as I've finally managed to start a job! It's now almost 15 months after I graduated, but I'm happy to say that I am now permanently employed as a Biomedical Support Worker in the Histopathology laboratory at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. I'll admit that it has been quite a learning curve finally getting a job after waiting so long (and making so many applications, going to interviews, signing on etc) and I am (mostly!) loving doing the job.
The specimen reception role that I'm currently doing is quite stressful, requires a lot of concentration and is quite tiring as it involves standing for long periods and also walking around the hospital several times a day to collect specimens, but I'm still really enjoying it as for so long I've not had anything to really put my effort into (for the past year or so it has been tough not having hardly anything to do really); although histopathology is not exactly the area I wanted to work in, as I really want to have a scientific career then any sort of lab experience is good. In a week or so I'll be switching to doing something else in the lab so I will learn how to do many different tasks.
Anyway, as your admin I would just like to apologise for not coming onto the forum as much, or making improvements etc. As I've started to get settled more into my current role I will from now be able to give the forum more attention, and promise that I will continue to make improvements, add new content etc.
Thanks,
Sam.
