Here I Go Again.

Alas, my two toes are poorly
I'm as grumpy as I can be
The operation I had last year
Didn't go very well for me

Both bent toes needed straightening
As they looked like they'd had a row
Doc would re-unite and pin them
He was special and knew just how

But on the operation day
The special doc was not around
No-one knew of his whereabouts
Only that he couldn't be found

I felt a sense of foreboding
When another doc took his place
He didn't seem reassuring
And had a very grumpy face

Now I'm not blaming his bad mood
Lots of docs have grumpy faces
It's the fact that six months later
My toes look like they've swapped places

Last week I saw the special doc
He asked, 'Who did this op?'
His face went like the other one
Not another doc in a strop!

He tutted and thought about things
Scribbling notes like most doctors do
Then smiling warmly he announced
'I'll do the op again for you.'

So now I'm on the waiting list
Feeling nervous but mostly glad
If the next op doesn't go right
I'm going to be hopping mad.

Brilliant but shocking at the same time, good luck, I hope it works out next time with the right special doc.

I've had my pre-assessment
To ensure that I'll be fit
For my next toe operation
Which will hurt more than a bit.

They'll take a lump from one toe
And two others will be pinned straight
Half of the fifth will be cut off
So I feel nervous whilst I wait.

My IgG is really good
So I'm feeling strong and mighty
And ready to fight infection
Whilst I'm resting in my pyjamas (I don't wear a nightie) (TMI?)

So forum friends please wish me luck
To comfort me whilst I'm waiting
I'm told I won't miss half a toe
But it's just the thought I'm hating.

I won't be missing everyone just yet as my operation date has been changed to the 26th November. Don't know whether to be happy or sad about it. I won't be in pain quite so soon but I think I would prefer to have it over and done with. Anyway I'm still on the list to go in at short notice. Oh well, carry on playing.
