Sub-clinical Infection?

Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this, and could it be the result of a sub-clinical sinus infection.
My problem is that three or so times a day my nose gets blocked, usually just the left hand nostril, and blowing it doesn't help, but irrigating it and blowing out the water produces the biggest hardest lumps of green "Snot", imaginable. It's really gross!
As I'm getting my IVIg on Wednesday I wondered if I should try to see a doc.
What do you think??

Hi John,

I've been getting that for about the last 4 weeks and strangely I got exactly the same thing this time last year, oddly it just 'comes and goes' with it happening for days and then just going for a while and then coming back. I saw one of the immunology registrars about it last year but they could find nothing wrong apart from me having a particularly bad cold so I don't know if its the same thing or not?

I suppose it could be hay-fever, not that i've ever been diagnosed with it, but this "time of year" thing, and tons of hay-fever sufferers saying it's really bad this year... Mmmmm

I never used suffered with hay fever but only noticed i had it after starting ivig, i use hay fever nasal spray and tablet from march onwards but over the last 5 days or so i have felt more bunged up that Normal so maybe there is a certain pollen affecting us more at the moment.
The sprays and tablet do work for me fortunately,

HI Malcolm,
That's really interesting and I am now pretty sure it's an environmental effect like pollen or dust, because I did have it in the summer last year too.
I will speak to someone at the clinic on Wednesday, but typical sod's law, I can't seem to be able to blow down one of the huge ones to show them!!

That sounds gross! Hayfever has been really bad this year, my son is suffering dreadfully none of the tablets seem to be working for him, my nose is bunged up and like you its usually just one nostril.
Hope it eases soon for you.

It is gross, I am afraid to look at what ends up in my tissue!!!
I will hopefully get some answers when I manage to catch one and show it to the immos on Wednesday!!!!

Well I caught a whopper and took it in today.
The docs were fascinated by its humungous size and it's gone off to the labs for analysis!
John, my nurse saw it and declared it had put him off his lunch!
Watch this space!!

I thought you had been fishing for a second :-) I did feel for your nurse but I suppose he/she is lucky enough not to have our not so nice problems.

The labs are usually quick so it will be interesting to see the results of your whopper.

From feeling OK, just having B I G bogies, I now have a stonking cough and am on day 2 of Augmentin! Such a pity when the weather is amazing and I want to be out there doing things, instead of just sitting here with no energy and a chest hurting from coughing all night.
Not looking for sympathy (much), but it always helps!!!

Oh dear, John. Poor you. It doesn't seem fair that we finally have a summer and you're unable to take advantage of it. I do hope you feel much better very soon.

Its must be twice as horrible being ill in this heat, 30c in my living room earlier and its still 27c at 11:30

Hi peeps,
Thanks for the nice words - I'm a lot better, now the Augmentin is working.
I took your advice Malcolm and started with two tabs for the first dose, and it did seem to get to work quicker, so thanks for that tip!!
I also got a big lift from the Murray Factor yesterday - what a day to be a brit eh??
