Hopes, Dreams and Aspirations for 2013

hi all,
It's coming up for the time of the year when we look forward to a new year with all that it might promise and deliver. What do you wish for and are you determined to achieve in 2013, both in an ideal world and realistically for folk with our extra concerns?
I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours first!!

Ideally to get a First in my degree? More realistically it'll probably be a 2:1 but I can hope!

Nothing so intelligent for me. I hope to stay well and strong enough to enjoy practising and would like not to get so nervous before gigs. (Wish my accordion could weigh less)

Hi John,
I hope to complete my Level 2 certificate for the children and young peoples workforce next year and maybe do level 3, if I can, but I have to be realistic, as already having problems due to health, so we will see, cycle more and try and get my confidence back as its completely gone at the moment :-)

Being realistic is good, pessimistic bad!
I support progress through small, realisable steps, so if I were you it would be level 2 success first!
Getting our health to behave as we wish is a different matter. Sometimes we just have to be patient patients and let our bodies and our medications do their stuff first, and not push ourselves too hard, because that can lead to disappointment and even more loss of confidence. Training and exercise may work well for "normal" folk, but just make me feel even more tired and sorry for myself!!
No harm in dreaming though, Good Luck for 2013!!

At the age of 40+ (ok 42 on Monday) I learnt to do something for the very first time yesterday - something I never had the confidence to do. I put on a pair of roller skates at Roller World with the younger two and yes I COULD DO IT and had the best fun I have had in a long time. So my motto for 2013 is to adopt an I CAN DO IT attitude with the aim to take on a new challange each month over the next year. Any suggestions greatfully received as long as they dont involve heights or spiders! in fact would anyone like to join me? - could go on as a new thread.

Well done that girl!! and Happy birthday on monday!!
We're a bit further up life's rocky road than you, but we took up roller skating a few years back and still aspire to getting our skates on when we are in Spain, where street skating is a bit safer than here in London!!
So...why not start that positive attitude post, I'm all for it!!

I hope hope to build on my record of not requiring hospitalization for any infection ... this will be year 3 and counting! I am feeling very blessed and grateful.

mmmm not doing so well on my personal challenge front. I have 9 days to try something new but bloomin back has gone again and now have to see a specialist. Hence not put on any postings since the new year. oh well I CAN DO IT just got to get my thinking cap on!

Well now it's 8 days...... let me see..... aha, how about setting yourself the task of learning a poem off by heart?, Or Baking a cake you've never made before ( kids would love that one!), or Doing a crossword puzzle every day till the end of the month..... any of those hit the spot?
Seriously I hope you get some relief from your back pain, they say childbirth is the worst pain, I never had that (!), but back pain is a killer!!

I hope her health improves, she has a chest infection and another couple of abcess appearing!

I hope so too.
Chest infections, I've been pretty lucky this winter ( so far), and I hope Caitlin's clears up soon. Do the antis for her infections help with the abcesses too?
We were in Devon for my Mum's 93rd birthday last week and had to drive back to London in the snow. Very pretty but lethal, hope you didn't get too dumped upon in Somerset!

Hi John,

The antis don't help the abcess as they are MRSA and consultants no longer treat them with antis as they are conerned about her building up a resistance.

We've not had too much snow really a bit dicey along the lane thats about it.

Hope you stay lucky for the rest of the winter.

Hi Sue,
I'm glad you have escaped the worst of the snow.
As soon as I say I have escaped infections for a while, guess what - I start a stonker.
This one started this morning and now I'm feeling all-in. Am taking the Augmentin I keep for emergencies, wish me well!!
Hope Caitlin is getting better, so what do they treat her abcesses with??
