Not so good news

Just a wee update on Curtis.He has been on this new treatment now 6weeks with no improvement. They are going to now add a viral drug in now as well to see if that works.He has had this before and had lots of complications but he was on it when his health was really bad now he has improved a bit that is the reason they are trying again.All his vitamins has dropped again and his iron is now below 5 again so they are going to give him iron drips again which he had for six weeks just before Xmas.He also has raised liver function again, so please keep your fingers crossed for us that this works.All Curtis wants is to go back to school next week as he said he is so BORED.He also had a bone X-ray on his wrist to see how delayed his growth is.His norovirus is not going to leave easily but after this treatment there is nothing else to try as the doctors were even feeling disappointed and deflated today.Sorry for the long post but on hear people understand.

There isn't much I can say except that I'm so sorry for Curtis and you all for everything you're going through. My fingers are tightly crossed and wishing and praying that things improve quickly.

i hope you can get back to school really soon curtis - i can remember being bored at the end of the summer break myself! (and that was a long long time ago!!)

Thinking of you all. It is so disappointing for you that Curtis has not seen an immediate effect from the treatment. Lorraine is it worth asking for a second opinion from Great Ormond Street? I know you have fantastic doctors over there and I am not in any way doubting their abilities, it's just that I feel it sometimes helps to have as many brains on the problem as you possibly can? Also GOS does see an awful lot of very sick children and somewhere within the hospital they may have come across a case similar to Curtis? Please don't think I am doubting his current doctors, I know they are very good and very experienced, but it may be worthwhile getting new opinions as well?
