Good news or not?

On Tuesday we are due to take mum back home as she is feeling a lot better. I'm feeling very ragged but was looking forward to a complete rest with my eldest daughter who was coming to collect me on Wednesday to take me to her home in Wales straight after my infusion and I could hardly wait to see my grandchildren for the first time in two years. We made this arrangement only last week after I was told I need an operation on three toes and I hoped to have a holiday first knowing the waiting list for operations is usually a few months. Yesterday I received a call informing me that the consultant is worried about the broken metal trying to escape from the bone it was put in six years ago. I am at risk of infection in the bone and must have it removed fairly soon. (The metal not the bone - I hope.) I will also be having two toes straightened. So on Tuesday after we take Mum to her home and put our home back to the way it was I will then see my grandchildren for three hours. Wednesday I must see the consultant, then go to pre-assessment which they warned could take up to four hours, then on to my infusion which does take four hours plus and then finally return home to say goodbye to my daughter and grandsons. At least I'll have Thursday to relax before the operation. I wish my poor memory worked well enough to forget how painful the last operation was but no such luck. Of course I am grateful to get the operation done and be rid of the day to day pain. Speaking of which, instead of my husband having a week's break from me he is going to be full time carer for six weeks ;D. Never mind, I'm trying to look on the bright side. My daughter offered to find the number of the samaritans in case I become too much for him.
Please wish me luck, I don't like pain.
