very little (actually no) posting here of late.
does this mean we're all well and happy??
speaking for myself, i am feeling quite good, after an excellent con with the liver team, an appointment for a prophyllactic endoscopy in july, a good day volunteering at the ghu yesterday catching up with lots of old and new friends, and oh yes, two lovely nights by the sea in aldeburgh this week, when the sun actually shone for us.
seriously, i hope everyone is well, keep on posting though, it's sad to log in and see no new activity!!

Hi John. Great that things are going well for you. I agree it is sad not to see posts. It makes me feel like I should write in a whisper. I was goiing to post a couple of silly jokes in the hope of making someone smile but they're probably (hopefully) all well and don't need them.
I've just read something that amused me. Have you ever noticed that people who are late are often far happier than the people who are waiting for them?
I hope things continue going well for you.

Well done John. This made me think a long way into the past to an incident which led to a lot of recipes for potato salad! Remember?
I'm not posting because I'm as miserable as sin, not dealing at all well with Penny's diagnosis, and the mental/physical/emotional malaise has hit me as a nasty UTI. I ache everywhere.

It has been a bit quiet. I've only been able to have quick looks, Caitlin been in hospital again with another absess and we go to the hospital 3 times a week for UVB light therapy its costing me a fortune in parking charges! She also has another absess hovering so will probably be back in again in the next week or so.

Sorry you're not well Gillie you have alot to cope with at the moment so we understand. Hope you start to feel a bit better soon.

Gillie, I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time. UTI's make us feel as miserable a sin without all of the other issues that you're having to cope with. I'm sorry to be thick, but can you remind me what Penny's diagnosis is?
Prickles, Caitlin is doing so well to be keeping up as well as she is with her school work. Is the school any more understanding of her disability and how it impacts on her life? As far as the astronmical cost of parking at the hospital for her repeat visits is concerned, is there a scheme at the hospital to help with this? In our local hospital there is such a scheme. Maybe Caitlin's Nurse Specialist would be ablwe to point you in the right way for this?

well I've been going through a fairly good patch since Easter! The treament is going well and I'm feeling a big difference. I've also been really very busy!

But I also have an idea that I want to share and a question, so i'll be posting more shortly!

gillie, i wish you well, it's just not like you to be miserable. you will come to terms with penny's cancer, it's early days at the moment and you're still in shock.
and how do guys like us get infections like uti's when we practically LIVE on antibiotics??
for those who don't know/remember, when i was webmaster at pia, there was an ominous quiet spell on the forum around christmas time, and i thought to myself, "i have to get this going again somehow". solution was to ask everyone for their favourite potato salad recipe, and i was OVERWHELMED with recipes and happy that the chat started again! i won't be trying that one on again, maybe shepherd's pie this time... what do YOU put in the meat sauce to give it your special kick?

lol, it's got to be Tobasco sauce. My husband John (Mac) was looking at the lable for this (as you do) the other night and found that it was made in Louisiana USA, BUT has a Royal Charter!

Hi Liz

At our hospital you only get special rates if you are an oncology patient or a child inpatient after 2 weeks.

Some teachers at the school are more understanding than others. She will be glad when its this time next year and she can leave. She starts her work experience a week Monday so looking forward to that - as long as she doesn't end up in hospital that week!
