I have to vital capacity of a mushy pea!

I have been hit by my fifth chest infection in ten weeks. Feeling very sorry for myself. I saw my chest consultant today, he wants me to go into hospital for IV antibiotics, nebs etc. I'm just waiting for the phone call to say there's a bed available.

So instead of having a back packed to go away on holiday tomorrow for a week in Cornwall, I have a hospital bag packed. I know how to live hey!

I'm hoping the IVs will fix me as I'm struggling to catch my breath and cannot stop coughing and wheezing! I've never had IVs before, always just oral antibiotics, but a bucket load of those over the last few months haven't done the trick!

You sound as if you're having a really bad time,I feel sure the IV antibiotics will do the trick, just hope they can find the right match for your infection quickly and you're out of there very soon.
It's rotten missing your holiday,these things always seem to choose the worst possible moment to spoil things for us,it sounds like they could have moved things on a bit quicker with all those infections over a short period,perhaps your IG needs a bit of adjustment too.
Prefer not to think about mushy peas myself,just salt and vinegar :-)

Hi Louise. Lots of cyber hugs coming your way. I hope that call from the hospital's already come, or that it comes really soon. You sound as though TLC needs a lot of help from strong antibiotics this time!

Hi Louise. So sorry you're having such a bad time and missing your holiday. Try to imagine the hospital is a hotel where they're serving you delicious food and you don't have to wash up afterwards and you're meeting lots of different and interesting new people Hope they get you better very soon.

Thank you all for your lovely messages, and for putting a smile back on my face!
Unfortunately the phone call still hasn't come. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to be at home, but very frustrated, just want to get on with the IVs and start feeling more human again pronto!! Watching my phone like a hawk willing it to ring!!

I only started on subut infusions about 6weeks ago and I was due to do an infusion on Thursday evening (I'm on 40mls weekly). I texted my immunology nurse who said hold off until my temperature settled and after having some IVs in my system. As that's not happened, I've still not had it, I'm wondering if I don't go in today, should I do an infusion tonight?

Hi Bamber thank you for your message, really kind of you. Finally got a bed yesterday and have started the ivs. Had a bit of a rough night- I also have addisons disease and my cortisol levels were in my boots. They Put me on high dose steroids and nebs today, they're definitely making a difference
To spill a secret I'm actually a doctor: being on this side of the fence is definitely not fun!!

sorry you're been through the wars lately!
hopefully the meds will make you feel better, iv antis are certainly more effective than tabs, and when i did nebs that helped me enormously.
we are enjoying the jubilations, street party today, in the rain, freezing cold....erm, is that a cold i feel coming on???
