Going to hospital today

A quick post to say the hospital called this morning to tell me that my first treatment will begin today at 5.30. I'll be in the hospital for 24 hours. I'm a tad nervous but it's great to be starting it all.

Thank you everyone! Just got home feeling dizzy with a cracking headache but apart from that it went quite well I think. There was no problem finding a vein and I seemed to absord the stuff quite quickly. Although there was a moment where I thought I was going to throw up but it passed quickly. I'm going to write a blog post it with pictures if anyone would like to see what a Spanish hospital lunch looks like!

Becks, that's good news. How funny that we almost both started on the same day.

you were probably nervous as it was your first infusion, and that might explain your side effects, hopefully you won't get them again.

I think it's great that we've (almost) shared our IVIG infusion kick off. I didn;t get many side effects but I was very sleepy. Glad that we're both on the right track now and fingers crossed it makes a difference to our lives.

John, yes the doctor said that the headache and feeling sick was probably just nerves and stress.

Becks, yeah and vice versa, if you don't mind? When are you next due to go back in? I'm a lil confused because I'm booked to go back in 21 days but my specialist told me I would go in every week for the first 3 weeks!

Thanks for that very well written,it fascinates me how things are so different for the same process when you go abroad,I had a couple of very enjoyable weeks in an italian hospital a few years ago,in Spain it seems they are very doctor centred rarely see a doctor where I am,and in Italy even as in patient doctors were never seen more than twice a day,except in a crisis of course.
The other thing so different the wonderful view of Barcelona,in Italy it was the alps,it inspires you to get fit and get out!

Yeah it's true, althought the actualy was done by a nurse and a trainee nurse. The doctor had to come just to assess if I was fit to leave the hospital.
And yes the view is stunning. But saying that, the view from Brighton hospital is equally impressive, i hear.
