A quick PAD question

Just a quick one...

Do we have any stats on PAD or other Primary Immunodeficiencies?

eg. do we know how many people in the UK have been diagnosed with an PAD?

In the UK and Western Europe the approximate number of people with CVID is estimated at 1 in 20,000 to 1 in 50,000. For where I go for my infusions (QMC), that figure is about right as they cover about 2,000,000 people and from that and the number of patients with CVID or XLA, it came out at about 1 in 22,000.

Hi,
yes these are the stats, however, there is a growing realisation that there are an awful lot of people undiagnosed with less serious Pad & Pid. My daughter for example has only just been diagnosed after years of sinus infections that just wouldn't go away. Whilst these people don't necessarily need immunoglobulin replacement therapy, they doo need "Long & Strong" antibiotics and they need to see a Dr the minute they get an infection to stop it getting out of hand. If only Dr's didn't believe that "it can't be a PAd or PID, they are far too rare", these diseaeses would not be half as rare as statistics currently seem to prove that they are! Oh boy do we have work to do!
