Prophylactic antibiotic treatment plan

Hi, I'm in California and my immunologist is putting me back on Prophylactic treatment. I have low IGa deficiency, arthritis, asthma, recurrent sinusitis, UTIs, ear infections and chronic heart failure stage 3 with angina. Im 49.5 years old, my daughter has the low IGa also, but my son does not. Has anyone else tried this treatment plan? I'm hoping my stomach will not act up. Taking probiotics and eating yogurt too.

Hi. I was diagnosed with CVID in 2002. Once my condition had been stabilised I was put on a 6 weekly rotation of prophylactic antibiotics [i.e. one for 6 weeks at one a day, then swap to the 2nd antibiotic at one a day for the next 6 weeks.] I'm still doing the same 15 years later, and for the most part, it keeps me infection-free. Interesting reading these blogs because we all are being treatment somewhat differently.
I had lifelong respiratory and sinus illnesses and never smoked. I was not diagnosed until 2006 after an acute hospitalization.
my quality of life has never been better with SCIG weekly infusions. I do not have any antibiotic prophylactics except before a dental procedure.
this is related to my knee replacement and typical standard of care.
I hope things work for you with your treatment.
FYI I am in the Boston area.Just wondering if the standard of care is different in other parts of the country.

I have been on prophylactic treatment of azithromycin for almost 3 years for bronchiectasis and low igg.  It really helps manage the lung problem.  I do have problems with diarrhea on those days, so take dicyclamine, (an antispasmodic), which helps with the cramping.  I also take probiotics daily and eat yogurt.
