forever travelling - Hungary next...

Hello all!

So, anyone who has read any of my previous posts will see that I like going from one country to another...to the extent that I've never actually had an infusion in the UK, my country! I've always tried to find a way to go where I want. Sometimes it's been hard. I've even been stuck almost 3 months without an infusion (which I really don't want to repeat)!

Anyway, the next adventure for me is Hungary but this one is proving tricky. I can't get my EHIC card because I've been living outside of the UK for so long. The only way I can do it is by going to Hungary, getting a job so I can start paying social security there and then access their public health system.

Unless anyone has any bright ideas?

The problem with doing it this way is that you just can't guarantee how long everything will take.

Good luck, Syd. I enjoy travelling too [Uzbekistan last year and Spain this year] but I don't stay outside the UK long enough for access to ivig to become a problem. The most I may have to do is to juggle the dates of my infusion just before and just after the holiday, but I never miss one! I'm too much of a scaredy-cat for that!

Uzbekistan! Awesome! Have fun in Spain! The health system in Spain is really good so you'll be in good hands if something did happen! Where abouts in Spain are you going? I lived there 6 years! I've actually set up my treatment in the UK now and i will just operate in the same way you do.

As always, I'm playing safe and travelling with Saga. Their holidays for singles suit me very well nowadays. I'm flying to Malaga in order to tick two particular things off my bucket list. I'm a committed gardener, so I've always wanted to see the Alhambra and the Generalife gardens. Included in this visit too is a tour or the grand mosque in Cordoba.Apart from the decor, I'm fascinated by the idea of a building within a building so I'll be very interested to see how a cathedral was fitted over the top of a mosque!Good to know the health system in Spain is so good. I hope I shan't need it, but it's reassuring none-the-less.

Well I hope you have a whale of a time! The other thing that is great about Spain is the climate and the food. Good for your health!
