A Review of the Immune System in Pregnancy

Hi,

Doing some research for something else related to my Pharmacology degree, I found this review of the immune system in pregnancy for those of us who might be interested in going into the immune system in a bit more detail. Its free access and in my opinion fairly easy to read, taking previous research it questions amongst other things as to whether pregnant women are more susceptible to infection, protective mechanisms that may become active and whether prophylaxis etc is necessary.

Think my 18 year old son might like it. He's applying for uni to do biology and infectious diseases!

If he's going to be doing anything related to immunology then I would highly recommend getting a copy of 'Janeway's Immunobiology' by Charles A Janeway as it is an excellent textbook on the immune system and is quite easy to read and understand unlike some popular immunology books that are around (the one that my university recommended was awful in my experience as it took forever to actually tell you the facts). It is fairly pricey new, but any edition from 2000 onward will cover what is needed for most topics in immunology.
