Two days ago both my sister and sister-in-law went home from the hospitals they had been in. My sister has a drain in her wound as she had a large deep abscess after having her appendix removed. She has been very ill but is now on the mend. My sister-in-law feels so much better after having two litres of fluid drained from her lungs and has started chemo, for the third time and is feeling very positive. SIGH OF RELIEF ;D Eh oh, big mistake. We got a call Thursday evening to say mother-in-law was ill in hospital with a high temperature. We were again relieved and thought she can't have been too bad because they sent her home at 11pm as she seemed okay. She's 96. Friday afternoon she decided to run the carpet cleaner over the floor as she had dropped some crumbs, in the process she fell over and split her head open. On waking from a brief period of unconciousness she became aware that blood was gushing from her head. She picked up the TV remote control and tried to dial her daughter's number to summon help. She eventually realised why she couldn't hear the ringing tone but the channels kept changing. Meanwhile things were getting serious, the blood was trailing along the floor and was getting very close to her brand new cream rug. She crawled along the floor and found the phone. When her daughter arrived and had phoned for an ambulance she asked Mum why she hadn't pressed the alarm bell that hangs around her neck, for just such emergencies. Poor Mum had forgotten it was there. She is now in hospital complaining of a headache after the anaesthetic wore off from when they stitched her up from a three inch deep gash. This moaning department is priceless. Thanks. Glowing
